From The President
Trent began his term as President of the NLTA in August of 2021 and has been recently acclaimed as President for the 2023-2025 term of office. He has been an active member of the Association since the start of his career, serving as a Provincial Executive Member, NLTA Vice President, and President of the NL Counsellors & Psychologists Association. Over the past 30 years, Trent has greatly valued his experiences in the fields of public education, youth care, and leadership.
Born and raised in Norris Arm, NL, Trent currently lives in Mount Pearl with his partner (Tammy) and teenaged twin boys (Riley & Noah). He began his full-time teaching career in 2005 and is currently on leave from his position as School Counsellor at St. Peter’s Junior High in Mount Pearl. Before beginning his teaching career, Trent held leadership positions with the Boys and Girls Clubs of NL and worked within local residential youth care and treatment facilities. He is a Canadian Certified Counsellor and has also been a sessional instructor with the Faculty of Education at Memorial University.
Trent is an advocate for teachers, children, and public education and a champion for community justice, volunteerism, mental well-being, and integrity-based leadership.
